Volvo enters the 5-ton compact excavator market with ECR50

According to foreign media reports, Volvo Construction Equipment has added ECR50 and ECR58 compact excavators to its North American product line.
The 5-ton zero tail swing radius ECR50 is a new 11-type compact excavator from Volvo CE available in North America. The 6-ton short swing radius ECR58 is an upgrade of the previous generation ECR58D model, with improved performance, and reflects Volvo's decision to delete letters in the model update.
Volvo said that the two models are not only for the rental market, but also for customers engaged in public utilities, landscaping, road construction and other customers. Each type of crawler in-boom swivel device is specially designed to work in small spaces, which can ensure that the swivel rod and cylinder stay within the width of the crawler when digging beside obstacles.
ECR50 is equipped with a reinforced stick and boom, chassis and engine cover. The maintenance of the device has also become easier, with a 50-hour lubrication interval, a wide open hood and easily accessible maintenance points.
Volvo said that the lifting capacity of ECR58 is 10% higher than its predecessor ECR58D. At the same time, its bucket digging force capacity has increased by 5% and digging force has increased by 7%, enabling the machine to use larger attachments under more challenging ground conditions.
Volvo said that the excavator comes standard with an energy-saving and environmental protection mode (which can reduce fuel consumption by 10%), which includes automatic engine idling and automatic shutdown. The automatic engine shutdown is designed to reduce idling, thereby reducing maintenance costs. Volvo added that reducing the total operating time of the engine by limiting idle speed can also increase the resale value, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership.
In the cab, the machine has intuitive controls, a car-style menu wheel and a 5-inch color display. Volvo said that the spacious cab has plenty of storage space, as well as 12-volt and USB ports.
Buyers of these two new excavators are eligible for one year of ActiveCare Direct (Volvo's telematics service), which provides 24/7/365 machine monitoring and fleet utilization reports directly from the manufacturer. In addition, all Volvo excavators are backed by Volvo lifetime fuselage and structure warranty, which covers the fuselage, boom and stick during the entire initial ownership period.
Volvo is currently launching two new models in North America, offering compact excavators ranging from 1.8 to 8 tons.
